I’m 15, and my mom says that I can get a pet. My friend said that fire bellied toads are good, so I was thinking about getting one. Could I get 2 of them and everything that they need for under $100? I already have a 10-gallon long aquarium. Can someone help me with the care and other stuff they need?
Definitely. They can’t be handled though. If you want a frog you can handle, White’s tree frog will work.
All you’d need to buy is pebbles as a substrate and a small filter. Those two items won’t go higher than $40. Make the enclosure half water, half land. Put the filter in the water, because the tend to poop a lot. You don’t need a heater or a light, so ignore those people who tell you to buy them.
Feed them crickets once ever few days. Remove dead crickets to prevent disease.
Provide rocks or plants for hides and climbing objects.
You can put 3 fire belly toads in the aquarium you have.
They are very easy to own. Good luck.
Oh yeah, the fire bellies themselves are about $6 each.
Keep in mind they need live food. So, make sure you can make it to the pet store every week or have an aquarium to keep a supply of crickets. Ordering crickets online can be cheaper than buying from a pet store, but they sell them in large quantities. Get some books from the library, do your research and contact a herpetological society if you have one nearby. They can answer all your questions and then some.

I just would like to warn you that Fire Bellied toads are watch-only pets. You cannot take them out of their tank, for they are poisonus to you. Just a warning.
And yes, I believe that you will be able to get everything for about 100 dollars (give or take 20 dollars).
