why are toads coming out of my house I made a trench in the bottom of the house and theres 2 california toads?

This is actually very common. Remember toads are amphibians. They like cooler moist places. Plus the security from prey like snakes. It is a common misinterpretation that toads are reptiles, mainly because of the texture of their skin, but they are more similar to their cousin the frog. Actually this is good, because toads eat those nasty crawlies that you do not want coming into your home. You might say that they are good neighbors.
