Frog / Toad. What to do?????

Ok, I’ve had some frogs comming into my house (maybe toads – I dunno the difference). I don’t really mind – in fact I quite like them.

Anyway I put them out side because I thought they’d die inside (I do often find dryed up frogs around). But they just keep comming back in. I don’t want them to die, but they clearly like it here.

So, at the moment he’s in a small plasic box with a bit of water. It was a bit upset at first but now it’s calmed down. I don’t know if this means it’s happy to be there – or if it’s just got used to it.

What should I do?

Taking it farther from the house and release it would be number 1.

In order to keep it in captivity you would need to find out what species it is and do a little research on it. I assume it is a toad (matches the description you give). You could get a 20 gallon long aquarium and screen lid (a 10 gallon may work depending on the species) you want to use peat and Sphagnum moss mix as the bedding to encourage humidity and digging by the toad. You will also want a large easy accessable water dish. Give the toad places to hide such as under rocks or logs. And feed it red worms, and crickets about every other day.

first off you need to find out whether it’s a toad or frog. Toads have more of a bumpy "skin" and usually are a dull color as frogs are more smooth and brighter. Frogs usually need more humidity than toads but toads do need some. As long as you put air holes in it and feed it crickets every now and then, it should be ok. you might want to think of upgrading to a terrarium though. with water on the bottom and a rock so it can get out of the water and some vines, and a place to hide.

you need to let him in a free space with water so that he wont die

i had frogs/toad and they cant be in a tight space, they also need water

once i put one inside my house without sun or water and the next day he was dead

Frogs are sleek and generally very fast, high hoppers. They’re usually greens and other pretty colors.
Toads are bumpy and hop low to the ground. They’re usually brown with white stomachs.

What’s the weather like in your area? If it’s cold, they might be coming in the house because it’s warm.

I suggest putting the frog/toad back outside and letting him go on his way. Frogs and toads that were caught hardly survive in captivity in the care of someone who’s not an expert, even with the best of intentions.

Enjoy your little buddies for a while, but place them back outside where they belong =]
