how many fire belly toads can you house in a 10 gallon tank? also how do u sex them? give me as much info as u can. thank u so much.
I wouldn’t keep more than two FBTs in a cage of that size. That’s actually pushing it for me. It’s difficult to get a proper heat gradient in any tank smaller than 20 gallons. In a 20 gallon tank, however, I would say 4, maybe five toads could be housed comfortably.
Some care sheets will allow for up to 4 toads in a 10 gallon tank. In my opinion, this is a mistake. They aren’t as territorial as some species of amphibian, but they can still have aggression issues. When you have too many of them in a small area, they can fight, or a dominant toad can intimidate other toads into erratic behavior or even into not eating.
If you are going to keep more than one in a 10 gallon, make sure to watch them carefully. If one toad is growing and another is staying small, or behaving aggressively or unreasonably afraid, you may need to separate them.
The other major issue with a tank that small is that, as I mentioned, it’s hard to get a good heat gradient, which all reptiles and amphibians need to be able to perform natural functions properly. For instance, they often need a specific temperature to digest their food after they’ve eaten. A whole different one is needed for them to rest properly, etc.

you can put at least 5. also if you lift them up and look at there butt you should see a bump if its a tiny bump almost cant see it its a female if its got a big bump its a male. also if you buy them from like a petsmart or petco the store will only buy one kind of sex so people can no reproduce. you usually have to go to like a regal reptile place to get a different sex.
