Are there any problems with owning a pet toad?

And can they roam free in the house?

Honestly, if I were you I wouldn’t get a pet toad because they are not used to a closed environment such as a house. They need to be kept in a water filled habitat.

Sounds more like your looking for a cat or dog. Toads really prefer not to be handled and it isn’t good for them to roam free in the house. and keeping them confined isn’t to cool either.

No, no problems. Just make sure you let him swim around in the correct amount of Dettol.

It would be best if you kept it in a closed habitat. They are very easy to make and cheap to buy. I should about the size of a shoe box or bigger. I made mine it is pretty much a wood box…. but the top has a wooden frame with a screen on the rest. The front is like that to. And there is also a fly hole on the back. Fly nets are also easy to make or cheap to buy. Flies are very easy to catch. Then you put them in the fly hole, close it then watch them eat it. But of course in the winter depending on where you live, flies aren’t around. So then you can buy or raise meal worms. I just buy them. But I think I might copy my one friend who has a toad. They raise meal worms! It is just a regular little tub filled with oatmeal. Then they put the meal worms in along with a few apple slices and raisins. And eventually they grow up and lay eggs and they will have lots of babies! When they get big enough you should feed them to your pet and leave some in for another generation.
Anyway, you can take your toad out of it’s cage. I love to make obstacle courses for mine! Hope this helps!!!!
