I heard something somewhere that it isn’t good to have a pet amphibian if you have a baby or toddler. Does anyone know anything about this or can you lead me in the right direction?
They can carry salmonella so it is not good to have them as a pet.
Is there a rule about having babies and pet turtles/frogs/toads?

Any amphibious pet or lizard carries salmonella. Since babies and young children are very susceptible to salmonella and will touch the pet and then put their hands in their mouths or touch toys that then go in their mouths, they can get very sick.

They can carry salmonella which is very dangerous. It can actually kill you. If you are going to have those kind of pets with a baby you need to put the tank way up high and it needs a lid. Also if you handle the animals you need to thoroughly was your hands after you touch them or the tank. Don’t allow your child to touch them until they are old enough to understand to wash their hands and not put their hands in their mouth. If you want a pet get a puppy or kitty. Avoid the exotics until they are older.
