are all frogs toads and all toads frogs?

in other words… what’s the difference between a frog and a toad

They’re both amphibiens, going through the tadpole stage, etc., but frogs have big hind legs and small front legs, whereas toads have four equal sized legs.

All toads are frogs, yes. Not all frogs are toads, though. Frogs and toads are members of Order Anura. They are classified in different families.

Generally, toads spend more time on land than frogs, but that is not strictly true. There are tree frogs, of course, and there are toads that spend a great deal of time in the water as well.

All Toads are Frogs. Frogs are the main classification of this animal, which is called an anuran. A toad is an animal within that classification; you could say that a toad is a type of frog.
As for the difference, the basic difference is that a toad generally likes to inhabit drier areas than frogs. Most toads are found inland and even in deserts. Frogs generally remain in or near water at all times. Toads generally have drier, wartier skin than frogs. Toads have "paratoid" glands behind their eyes that give off poison when they are attacked. Frogs have toxins too, but they are generally on the surface of their skin rather than in a special gland like a toad has. Toads also lay eggs in strings rather than in clumps. Toads have no teeth, and frogs do have teeth. Also toads generally hop and have stubby legs, while frogs have long slender legs and leap rather than hop.
These are all general differences though, because there are over 5000 species of Anurans (frogs and toads) and there are some frogs that have toad characteristics and some toads that have frog characteristics. So when you see a toad, just say that it is a frog and you will always be right!
