How does a frog know when it is ready to lay eggs?

Because the fertilization of frog eggs are exterior and it only occurs after the laying of the eggs, how does little miss froggy know when it is time to leave her home and lay eggs? What is the process before she lays the eggs?

Like many animals, increasing day length triggers the sex hormones into action. This is advantageous since frogs mate around March/April so that the young hatch well into Spring, when food for the young tadpoles is abundant.
