What do toad and frog droppings look like ?

Posted by admin on March 29th, 2010 and filed under toad frog | 2 Comments »

Sounds mad but ive been a gardner for the past 26 years and ive never came across their droppings.
Can anyone please direct me to a photo please?

Many thanks.
Many thanks to Lar.
In my greenhouse i have found a few droppings which are oblonge shape dark green and the fresh compost in the seed trays seem to be slightly dug or disturbed and it was sugested that it was a toad.
Ive never seen this before in all my years of gardening.?

They seem quite likely to be toad droppings. It may be worth keeping them in a large pot for a few weeks as the unusual Lesser Dung Fly, Spelobia clunipes, has been reared from toad droppings in which the female laid her eggs.

Not a lot of people know that!

What else can frogs and toads eat other than bugs?

Posted by admin on March 27th, 2010 and filed under frogs and toads | 2 Comments »

What else can frogs and toads eat other than bugs, spiders, little snakes. Just stuff like, pellets and fish flakes. Dont say meal worms and dead crickets that they sell at petsmart and petstores and if they can eat just normal meat in the fridge for nutrition. Thankyou (:

frogs and toads can only eat bugs..

but there is a type of toad that can eat small rodents

Can I keep african dwarf frogs in a betta sorority tank?

I am going to start a sorority tank today or tomorrow and was wondering if you can keep african dwarf frogs with female bettas. Will the bettas show aggression towards the frogs? Please let me know what other type of small animal I can keep with the bettas, but NO snails, I once got a snail accidentally on a plant and there were soon hundreds of snails in the tank.
Also, do African dwarf frogs need to be in groups?

Yes, but you really need to do the research about African Dwarf Frogs. Some websites say not to, others say its fine. The frogs DO NOT eat fish flakes. Frozen blood worms and frozen brine shrimp should be good for them. You need to get them the right diet and you have to hand feed them every day. You have to put the food right in front of the frog so the betta’s don’t get it. Put a couple of plants in so it’s easier for the frog to reach the top to breath. A frogs skin can be delicate, so you have to make sure you’ve already cycled the tank and all the different levels in your Water are fine. Oh, and, an important one, they should have at least five gallons, then, sinse it will be with betta fish, 5 gallons for each betta. I would look into getting two ADF’s if I were you, so the frog isn’t lonely. Good Luck.!

There are different ways out of the ghost house. If you got out without having to confront the HUGE giant boss ghost, the toad house path won’t open. Go back through the ghost house and explore different doors until you find the path to the boss ghost.

How can I feed our fire bellied toad while we are on vacation?

We feed the toad live crickets every other day. I have no one that can come in and take care of it while we are gone. Is there a timed automatic cricket feeder like the ones they make for fish food?

Natural looking Cricket Feeding Dish holds up to 12 crickets, providing a mess-free way to add vitamin supplement powders to the crickets. Small access hole allows crickets to escape one at a time for feeding the reptile.

How do you get a pet frog to eat dead crickets or grasshoppers?

I own a Southern Leopard frog…a lot like a tree frog and I bought canned crickets and grasshoppers and can not get the frog to eat them. The lady at the pet store said that I should try and hold it out to the frog but it hasn’t worked…please help me please! Is there any way to get my frog to eat them without buying live ones????

There’s a vibrating food dish on the market–you can give that a try. You can try offering them on long-handled tweezers, and making them ‘zombie-walk’ around. It’s doubtful your frog will ever learn to just eat them without these tricks, though. You are much better off simply feeding it live crickets dusted with calcium powder. You can buy those at the pet store as well.

If none of those tricks work, you will have to feed it live. If you can’t stand live insects…a frog is a poor choice for a pet, lol.
