Can I house 4 fire belly toads with 2 green tree frogs?

Posted by admin on August 30th, 2009 and filed under toad house | 3 Comments »

will they live fine together, or is it a bad idea?

NO! DO NOT MIX FROGS EVER! Firebellied Toads are VERY TOXIC! They would kill the greens if they didn’t eat them first! Frogs will eat anything that moves, whether they should or not. All frogs are toxic to each other.

www.talkto.thefrog.org is a GREAT place to learn ANYTHING you’d ever need about frogs.

Does the stuff that pest control people use in the yards also kill toads?

Pest control came and sprayed my yard for fleas and ticks (the dogs say "Thank you!") but now I’ve noticed that I don’t see any toads and I had a few. I just wondered if the stuff that use for one may have caused the other. I miss the toads and their musical song at night.

No. You killed off their food source. They moved on.

How many African Dwarf frogs can I keep in a 10g?

Posted by admin on August 30th, 2009 and filed under frogs | 2 Comments »

I know that it’s a gallon per frog but I think that ten frogs living together is just stupid, so what do you think is an alright number to keep together? I already have two little ones and I have (I think) figured out how to introduce new species (of fish) into their tank so I think I can use the same process when adding the new frogs.
P.S. I no longer keep fish with them. So the tank is pretty empty at the moment.

5 or 6 frogs will be plenty, but they might reproduce too much. To avoid this try to get all one gender. Boys are typical darker, more active and longer. Females are less active, paler, and when ready to breed are plumber. I have had two african dwarf frogs and they are so cool!

What does Toad or Frog poop looks like?

Posted by admin on August 30th, 2009 and filed under toad frog | 3 Comments »

strange looking fecal matter appears every other day at the back of my kitchen. Our maid told me that the toad she caught a while ago was the culprit. I want to make sure because I thought it was from a cat, though I am ruling it out since it doesn’t have the stench of a cat’s poop. The poop has a length about an inch or two with a tubular shape. The color is dark brown. Usually there is only one or two per day, sometimes with urine on its side. Help please.

Frog poop looks like dark brown pill capsule’s and are full of insects.
We had a problem with big frogs or toads coming in our
garage. It is really nasty. If there is unfinished walls and flooring they will hide around and under places. When we
got a exterminator coming regularly they went away.Lime may
work if sprinkled around perimeter of the house outside. That
usually works for snakes and may work for frogs. It burns
they’re belly’s and they won’t cross the lime line.

My toad doesn’t sleep under the ground in the warm under the plants either, why is this?

Posted by admin on August 30th, 2009 and filed under toad | 2 Comments »

My toad always sleeps out of it’s home. Help, please tell me why.
Oh ok, and yes, toads are pets, get a dictionary the person who said toads AIN’T pets duh!

The toad will sleep where they are most comfortable. As long as conditions inside the cage are to the toads’ liking it will be fine.
Just make sure that there is plenty of fresh water, and to keep keep humidity try placing a clean, detergent free, sponge in a dish with water) in the cage.

What is the difference between the marsh frog and the now considered extinct in britain pool frog?

Posted by admin on August 30th, 2009 and filed under frog | 3 Comments »

We have two frogs, not commons, in our pond one with a green stripe down the middle of its back and one without. Both are dark green, quite knobly, do not have black flashes behind their eyes and cream rather than yellow tummies. I think they are marsh frogs but cannot rule out the [extinct] pool frog. We live in Somerset on the edge of the levels.

Sounds exciting if they are pool frogs. Have you thought of contacting "someone who knows" - maybe the British Museum, who could make a positive identification? Or who might know a man who knows?

Animal Crossing Gamecube: Mushroom Hunting & New House Tour

The new season is here and one of the first things you can do during Autumn is Mushrooming!

Mushroom Season starts on October 15th and lasts until the 25th. Every morning at exactly 8:00 a.m., 5 mushrooms appear randomly throughout your town.

Every 10 minutes someone will “pick one up” (it actually just disappears) which leaves you with 4 mushrooms. So if you want all 5, you have to get them all before 8:10 a.m.

The trick is the same as trying to find Wisp’s spirits; you want to search every section of land and look around the entire screen not just in the middle.

Each mushroom is worth 5000 Bells.
Oh, and you can them too! But why would you want to do that?! :|

The second part of the video is me showing off my new house I made a few weeks ago after getting the Moon on Harvest Day (the 26th for me).

The Gyroids I used weren’t random; I went through over 80 different Gyroids and picked out the ones I thought went the best with the Music (DJ K.K.). I’m satisfied with my new house.

Cane toads ‘invade’ Western Australia - 12 Nov 08

Posted by admin on August 30th, 2009 and filed under toads | 25 Comments »

Australia seems to be losing a battle against the Venezuelan cane toad.

About 100 were brought to Australia in 1935 to combat sugar cane beetles.

But the toads went after everything else and have expanded their empire across northeastern Australia.

Tony Birtley reports on the effort to stop them moving to Western Australia.
